Overview

The Universal Monitoring Module (UMM) is a fully self-contained 4-channel vibration/position monitor with its own power regulation and on-board alarm relays. A UMM’s relays can be programmed to use alarms local to the UMM, and/or from other monitoring modules in the rack. A truly “universal” vibration monitor, a UMM accepts inputs from proximity probes, accelerometers, moving-coil velocity transducers, pressure sensors, piezo-velocity sensors, and process variable signals such as 0-5Vdc, 4-20mA, and several others. The module can be configured for a variety of measurements including:
 

  • shaft radial vibration
  • axial position
  • casing vibration (velocity or acceleration)
  • case expansion
  • valve position
  • dual probe (shaft relative, shaft absolute, casing absolute)
  • vector (amplitude and phase)
  • zero speed
  • reverse rotation
  • aeroderivative (tracking filters, etc)
  • hydro
  • differential expansion (complementary, ramp, standard)
  • rotor acceleration
  • rotor speed
  • phase trigger
  • process variable (4 to 20mA, 0 to -10Vdc, 1 to 5Vdc, 0 to 5Vdc)
  • reciprocating compressor (crankcase velocity, impact, rod drop)

The list of supported measurements is constantly expanding and modules already in the field can be upgraded in-situ using the latest version of UMM firmware.
